Lego as a tool for Learning
I am the headteacher at a primary school in Havering. We are a Lego Innovation Studio School . The children in my school have access to the Simply Powered, WeDo and the Mindstorm resources. Each class has timetabled slots in the ICT Lab to explore these sets. The impact on learning has been impressive.
The children's' talk has become more focused as the need for technical and descriptive language has been increased. The low ability readers have an advantage in following non textual instructions as the competent readers seek reassuring textual prompts. Children work together using and applying skills in maths, Design technology, science, engineering, logic, reasoning, problem solving, lateral thinking, questioning, both collaboratively and competitively.
