Finguistics
I lead up the team that pulled together the proof of concept Surface application for BETT and am really pleased you liked it. A group of developers from RM and the Microsoft Technology Centre spend 3 weeks putting Finguistics together before Christmas. The idea was to highlight how Surface is different from other technology and show how it has the potential to change learning and teaching. Overall the concept went down extremely well; I manned the Surface device in the Future Learning Spaces for the 3 days and got a lot of positive feedback. Needless to say children loved it and it was difficult to prise them away at times. Teachers and Educators interesting were the strongest advocates and particularly like the collaboration aspect of Surface, both the physical working together side but more interestingly the communication and verbal collaboration that went on when the children were using it. Personally I hope Surface begins to get some real traction in Education as I think the device is really engaging for children and can help to make learning more interesting and exciting.
