The Day the Classroom Died

E-mail PDF
When in 1997 did the classroom die as a concept? I was probably in one teaching some children and it would be nice to know when the whole thing became pointless. Nolan Bushnell might be able to start an argument if actually had something to say. Does he really think that children thought the classroom was the most interesting place to be 40 years ago? In 1969 children sitting in a classroom in Haringey only had watching the corn grow or river flow as an alternative. I could do keynotes like that for the money he's getting every day for months. How about 'The teacher as a command and control tool lost all ethical basis 20 years ago.', or 'The 6 hour teaching day in a 5 day week has been a bankrupt concept for at least 24 hours'...
