'Clarifications' delay £1.2bn Birmingham BSF deal

E-mail Print PDF

The decision on which consortium should be awarded the £1.2 billion contract for Building Schools for the Future in Birmingham - said to be the largest BSF contract in England with an ICT element worth around £125 million - has been delayed until January 12 by Birmingham City Council for "outstanding clarifications". The two contractors in the bidding are Catalyst Education (Birmingham) Ltd led by Catalyst Lend Lease (IT partner Redstone) and Land Securities Trillion Ltd (IT partner RM).

According to a Birmingham City Council spokesperson quoted by online Building magazine, "Final Bids were received recently for Birmingham council's Building Schools for the Future initiative. The Council were hopeful of concluding the evaluation process and recommending the appointment of a Preferred Bidder at cabinet on 15 December 2008. We have been unable to do so as there are a number of outstanding clarifications with the bidders. This has resulted in the cabinet report being delayed."
