EC hits 'anti-competitive' Intel for 1.6 billion Euros

"Intel has harmed millions of European consumers by deliberately acting to keep competitors out of the market for computer chips for many years. Such a serious and sustained violation of the EU's antitrust rules cannot be tolerated."

That was the comment from European competition commissioner Neelie Kroes as the European Commission imposed a fine of 1,6 billion Euros on Intel corporation for "violating EC Treaty antitrust on the abuse of a dominant market position by engaging in illegal anti-competitive practices to exclude competitors from the market for computer chips called x86 central processing units (CPUs)".
