'Unsustainable' IAA facing closure

England's "voice of academies" – IAA – about to be silenced by declining fortunes

The Independent Academies Association (IAA), described on its website as "the only membership organisation solely dedicated to supporting Academy and Free School leaders", is facing closure.

A directors' meeting on June 11 decided that, as a result of declining levels of membership and sponsorship, the organisation, created in 2002, was no longer sustainable and agreed that a liquidator should be appointed. The professional advisers appointed will contact all active IAA members. A letter from the board went out yesterday (June 15).
